About

The company behind DataXray

DataXray was founded in 2017 to govern unstructured data at enterprise scale. It reads what is inside every file, classifies it, and acts on it.

Since 2017

Why DataXray exists

We started as Ohalo in 2017, as GDPR reshaped privacy expectations and cybersecurity threats exposed how little most organizations knew about the contents of their files. DataXray is the name we use today, and Ohalo Limited remains our legal entity. Traditional governance tools were built for structured data. Unstructured data, the documents, emails, spreadsheets, PDFs, and scanned images that hold most of an organization's knowledge, went ungoverned because nothing read it.

DataXray was built for that gap. It reads the contents of every file rather than sampling metadata, classifies what it finds, and turns the classification into action. Organizations use it for defensive work, such as records and retention management, disclosure, and regulatory compliance, and for offensive work, such as document intelligence and preparing governed data for AI.

Leadership

The people running DataXray

  • Kyle DuPont

    Kyle DuPont

    CEO

Kyle co-founded DataXray after witnessing enterprises struggle with the same fundamental problem: the majority of their data lived in files that no governance tool had ever opened, read, or classified. He has worked with major financial institutions, government agencies, and defense organizations to bring that data under control, making it governed and ready for AI and compliance workflows.

  • Alistair Jones

    Alistair Jones

    CTO

An engineer and security expert with extensive experience testing Microsoft's tools against real-world data challenges. Alistair brings practical insights from Fortune 500 companies and highly regulated institutions on implementing effective data protection strategies.

Principles

How we work

Five working principles shape how we build DataXray and work with customers. They are the standards we hire against and the ones customers can hold us to.

  • Customer success drives everything

The team measures its own success by its customers' success.

  • Empower great people to do great work

The team hires exceptional people and gives them room to act. Trust, collaboration and a willingness to challenge the status quo move the work forward.

  • Openness builds stronger teams

Knowledge, decisions and problems are shared openly. Clear communication builds trust and leads to better decisions.

  • Think long-term, act with purpose

Today's choices shape what DataXray becomes. The team builds for lasting impact, not short-term wins.

  • Speed matters

Waiting for perfection slows progress. The team acts quickly and still delivers high-quality work.
